What is self-care?

The term ‘self-care’ was originally a medical concept that was later reintroduced by Audre Lorde in 1988 through her book, “A Burst of Light”.

Everyone should practice self-care, especially migrant and refugee women. They face a multitude of hardships, which could include social injustice, sexism, lack of advocacy, micro-aggressions, cultural stereotypes, and workplace discrimination.

Be sure your life includes several simple pleasures. Find little things that bring you joy. Getting a good night’s sleep, watching your favourite TV show, having a bath, watching the sunset or going for a walk.
